Canadian Agents Arrest Filipino Nurse Who Molested a 98-yr-old Stroke Patient

A tip from the U.S. Marshals Office led agents of the Canadian Border Services Agency to the whereabouts of a fugitive Filipino male nurse,  accused of molesting a 98-year old patient in San Diego, California.

Russel Torralba was found working as a live-in caregiver for a severely disabled child in Southern Vancouver when he was arrested last week. Torralba is charged in California with elder neglect and lewd conduct of a caregiver upon a dependent adult two years ago.

The charges come from an incident caught by a home surveillance camera showing Torralba and another male nurse, identified as Alfredo Ruiz, fondling each other while touching the bed-ridden 98-year-old stroke victim.

The two nurses were hired by the victim’s family to work in her home.

The camera footage shows Torralba and Ruiz apparently masturbating and performing oral sex on each other at the foot of their patient’s bed.

One of them was seen leaning his genital onto the victim’s hand and kissing the woman’s face.

According to a complaint filed at the Board of Registered Nursing, the family of the victim reviewed the tape and observed lewd conducts in at least five occasions between February 27, 2011 and March 11.

Elder abuse attorney William Berman, who represents the victim’s family, said the lewd acts of the pair was the most shocking case of elder abuse he’s seen in his 15 years of practice.

The victim’s family sued the two men for elder abuse and negligent supervision.

Torralba fled to Vancouver by car in August before he was slapped with charges
